Father Figures

With the birth of Don. J's son, we have had the opportunity to share a few stories about parenting.

Don, of course, is now coming to realize what I mean when I say sometimes I come to work to get some rest. The first few months of being a father is an exciting, exhilirating and, yes, exhausting time.

All that said, it's also a great time — one of the best there is. I actually envy the many first experiences Don, his wife Renee, and, of course, baby Joshua will share. As a fellow shutterbug, I also know how much he will enjoy photographing those memories.

Over the years, I know that I have shot my fair share of kid photos. In fact, I'd say my crew (pictured above) has become quite accustomed to being models for my many whims. I bet Joshua will be an old pro in no time.

I also have no doubt Don and Renee will be great parents. They are great people.

A while back, another friend of mine was toying with the idea of parenting. At that time, I shared a few of my thoughts about the adventure she was embarking upon.

Just remember, Don, there are plenty of opinions on what makes the perfect parent. However, the only ones that truly matter are yours and Renee's. I'm sure you'll do great.

• By the way, check out the blog roll on the side. I've added a few new people to follow including a new blog from a familiar face.

• Speaking of familiar faces, I'd be remiss not to point out a little golf tournament. (Please note the familiar by-line on that story).

• No spring football for Tiger fans? Alas, it's true. With a new coach and a staff in transition, there's just not enough time to do it right.

• Have you checked out terrelltribune.com's new Marketplace? No? Do it, and then give Don a call to upgrade your listing.

• Best show on television right now? There's no question about it.

• Don't forget the Terrell Chamber of Commerce Membership Banquet is Thursday night.

• With a new addition at home, some busy times at work and everything else, I'd be telling a lie if I didn't admit I've been a bit stressed. When I get stressed out, I find that always fall back on one of my biggest loves: music. With that said, I've been listening to a lot of tunes lately. Here's one of my favorites. It's a great tune, but I really enjoy it because all four of my kids love to rock out to it in the car. Enjoy and have a great Thursday!
